Ok, I have searched the web and on here for tips on chalice growth and care and can't really find much. I got a pink lemonade chalice frag about a week ago and want to know the best place for it. I am running T5's (156w) over my 45gal and am unsure if it needs to be in the sand or a little further up. I have good flow from a K2 and my sump pump output (600 gph), but I have read some say not too much flow....anyone with suggestions? Thanks!

IME, start chalice's on the ground and work them up the rock work. I almost killed one by starting it higher in the rock work under my T5's. They are sensitive. Mine is in low/medium chaotic flow. Mine is a red one.

I did start it our on a rock about half way up and realized it looked like it was shrinking and loosing its bright colors...yikes!!!!! I moved it to the sand bed a couple of days ago and have been keeping an eye on it...we'll see. Is there anything I should look for to warn me of its health...other than the shrinking....thanks!

Things to look for are really just exposed skeleton or drastic changes in coloration IME. They will puff up and shrink slightly over the course of the day etc so unless it really starts looking bad you're probably fine. They are pretty hardy and unless something goes seriously wrong with some type of infection etc you can usually recover them even if they start going south.
