Well I was looking at my tank about to feed the fish and I was thinking wheres my chalk bass. Well then I saw it swimming across the tank at the bottom like spinning around like a pool torpedo. Now he's laying at the bottom under an over hang of a rock. Usually this fish hides toward the top of the tank but will pop out when you go and look at the tank. I do have a royal gramma do you think its messing with my chalk bass when im not looking?

It is possible, they are from the same genus. It sounds more like it is sick, I have never had any survive when they are swimming like that. It usually means their swim bladder is damaged.

thought that normally happens when they are collected and pulled up to fast.

That too, possibly an infection, too.

I've had it for a while now and it's been fine so I don't thinks it swim bladder because from my understanding that usually happens right away if they are pulled up to fast when collected.

Guess it could be an infections but all my other fish are fine

Swim bladder problems usually presentes itself as struggling/odd swimming patterns, floating at the surface or being "stuck" on the bottom with difficulties rising. Swimming in circles indicates other issues. I'm sorry to say, but I'd be surprised if he made it. :-(

One fish can have an infection when everyone else is fine.

Swimbladder problems can happen for a number of issues.... even just plain ole congential deformities. One issue can be that some fish were brought up to fast... but that's only for deepwater fish.

Chalk Basslets are prone to coming in with worms. Is the stomach extended?
