One of my 5 chalk bass has a giant sac around its eye. This happened over the course of 24 hours. Is it popeye? and What can I do to cure it?

yes looks like popeye, to cure it you have to find out if it was caused by being attacked or a fungal infection, either way it helps to feed it healthy food w/ garlic.

I had the same problem with a black and gold grouper, went to local fish store and got Gel-Tek Penicillin (will not hurt other fish, other fish ate it too), followed directions on bottle added it to pellet food, and fed grouper with a clear tube to make sure he ate it, after 3 or 4 days was gone and back to normal.

I water change everyweek so I don't think it could be poor water quality. It is one of the larger fish in the tank. It does spend a lot of time in the rocks maybe it got hurt. I have been trying a new type of food think it could be that? Also how do I add garlic to the food I am feeding?

it might have hurt itself on the rocks, but I really doubt food caused it. To add garlic you can either buy a bottle of a garlic supplement from your lfs, or get a garlic clove smash it or put it in the blender to get the juice out, then pour the juice over the food.

I called my lfs and talked to my buddy there. He said that I should wait and if it is still there on saterday to come in and he would get me some antibiotics. But other than that he said a water change would be good and make sure it eats. I asked about the garlic but he siad that it was only good for blood eating parasites. Hence why it works well for vampires :)
