    Thanks.
Hoping it just heals on it's own.

Currently I can't find him, so maybe he's gone somewhere to find and recover.
He was just sitting out in the open.

Well he's still hanging in there...
It actually seems like some of the bubbling swelling is going down, but it's still obviously protruding.

There's a redness around the edges as well, blood?

But the thing is, his good eye kind of has the redness as well. Is it just because that whole area is in bad shape, or is it both eyes? The "good" eye isn't swollen at all, it just looks kind of weird.

And here's the "Good" eye, with the redness as well.

Looks like he is recovering. I think the redness is natural, it is just an extreme close up but I could be wrong though. It has been a few years since I had a chalk bass, and he was pretty shy.

Well, now both his eyes are screwed up...
Not sure what's going on then, I guess it's not from an injury?

I don't think I'd be able to catch him in order to do anything. Can this spread?

jeez.. pop eye never stops impressing me.. just imagine us humans getting that >.<

fish just seem to not be bothered much by it too, they keep acting normal ( for the most part)..

i would try to take it out and try to treat it for bacterial infection like curt mentioned above. or maybe you could dose some melafix into the tank. From what i heard, its supposed to be safe for the tank but im not sure.

Well, he's not eating, but aside from that it seems fine.
    Can it even see?

I just pushed a ton of Mysis down to him with a baster, and he didn't even move.

I don't think I'd be able to catch him since he's so low and entrenched in the LR.

So it doesn't seem to be getting better, and hasn't eaten since Sunday
At some point do you think about putting it out of it's misery? It's been laying against the wall for 5 days...

    Is it in pain...?

It can barely see right now so it's not in pain....it's terrified.

It's time for a hospital tank and treatment.

Well, even though it can barely see, I still couldn't catch him...
I'm worried a bit about the eating. If I take him out, there's still no guarantee it'll eat in the QT is there?

You need a clear "critter keepeer" to catch them. If you start chasing them with a big blue, green, or black net, they will definitely see those.

There's no guarantee the will eat once in the hospital tank. However, there is a MUCH better chance. I've even taped black construction paper to the sides of a HT so they never see blurry movement in the distance. Put yourself in it's place. You know there are people out to get you. However, for reasons you don't understand, you can see light and shadows but you can't see anything clearly. Once the fear goes away (which won't happen overnight), you can concentrate on working on finding food.
