Hi there i just purchased a chalk goby and my lfs said with regards to feeding they sift the sand for food?
Is there anything else they eat??

Also i heard mixed reports about how they can be a pest killing coral and throwing sand around?

Can anyone give me any info on this species, i read quite a bit on them but would appreciate any advice.

    Regards col

Gobies in general shift the sand searching for copeds and wastes to eat. They are cute when they are small, but can be quite destructive as they grow larger. I caught mine eating my pepermint shrimp. It was to big for its mouth and its legs hung out for awhile; but it finally got it down. You need to make sure your rock is secure, it may dig under it enough to cause a problem I dont even want to think about! It will make a mess in your tank burying rock and corals. You also need to make sure your sand bed is deep enuogh. On the bright side they are fun to watch and they have great personalities! Have fun with yours.
