I have a weird obession that every 3 weeks (give or take and when I am doing water changes) will change my landscape/rockwork until I am fully satified, plus I like to change the "scenary" sort of speaking..sometimes this will take months. I want to make sure that I am not doing any real harm to the fish.

    PLease Advise,

    Thank you,

Remember that your fish and invertebrate live and make their homes within your 'scape. Whenever you change the aquascape, they have to "fiind new homes" within your tank. Though, I do not believe this is at all a big deal. Some people actually change the 'scape on purpose when they add a new fish. It cuts down on aggression and territorial issues of fish already in your tank...everyone has to find a new place to settle then, not just the new fish.

I used to constantly change my aqua scape...until I finally found something I liked. I've stuck with it for about 3 months now. I had my last 'scape for about 6 months.

Your corals will grow better too if you just leave them alone. The light and flow is different everywhere in your tank so when you move rock that has coral on it the coral has to readjust / acclimate to its new place. Most coral don't grow when they are trying to adjust. Something with the fish and their homes to also think about when you are making even small changes in your rock work.

Thanks Heidi though I am not worried about that right now since I do not have corals growing..I need better lighting and i want to wait a little longer so that my tank is a little more mature before I add corals. Though what you said is something to take into consideration down the road.

Fuss all you want – get it perfect before you start your reef. Once the reef is growing the rock become glued together and there is no moving it. If you have fish in the tank you are causing them stress, with that said – get the job done sooner than later. You need to be satisfied with your landscape as it will keep you happy for years to come.
