hey all, im looking to change up my aquascape (Rockwork) and im wondeirng what to do with the 2 clowns i have in there, and the snails shrimp etc etc, i know i can move around the snails and they wont be able to get in the way but what about the clowns and shrimp???

should i take them out and bag them for a bit?? and float them in the tank?

or just leave em in?? ( i dont really wanna do this because itll cause alot of stress on them and they might possibly get hurt)

but i understand that bagging them again also stresses them out so im kinda stumped on what to do...

    thanks for the help

The last time I did it, I left them in the tank. Do a water change at the same time. The water you take out(in a rubbermade container of some sort) can be used to place l/r and coral while you are fudging with the tank.

I rearranged my rockwork recently, but did it over 2 weeks, one side of the reef one day, waited til the next weekend and did the other. I was in the tank about an hour each time, and never removed any livestock. Just being careful and watching where you are and the animals are, and you should be okay. my sand settled down in about 20 minutes, and I took a head count- all present!

If you really dont wanna leave them in, I would fill up a 5 gallon bucket with tank water, and keep them all in there with an airstone.
I change around my rockwork quite a bit, and have never taken anything out to do it. I have done this at least 4 times and have never had a creature get overly stressed or hurt in any way. Just my two cents...
On the other hand, it is highly likely you will go through a mini cycle of sorts if you do move a lot of stuff around. Expect at least a small spike in nitrites.

just leave them in, I redid my rock work several times in my 55 and they were fine. They just stayed on one side of the tank. Didn't really bother them

The only thing I stress on his burying my sandstar under a bunch of rock. I try to locate that one lifeform and place it in a bucket of aquarium water. Then I do my thing. Just move slowly and try not to stir things up too much. They are pretty resilient. I figure it's no worse than a storm over the reef in their natural habitat.
