I would like to add some more LED lighting to my tank and since the bar fixtures I find at my LFS's are around $175, I am considering making my own. Now because I have pretty much 0 experience with building LED fixtures, I found this bar fixture:

LBFA LuxBar series LED Linear Light Bar Fixture | Aluminum Light Bar Fixtures | Rigid LED Light Bars | LED Light Strips & Bars | Super Bright LEDs

I was wondering if it would be possible to buy one of these and change out the LED lights and if that is a simple process. I feel like it would be a cheaper option to do this than buy it from LFS. Thought? Opinions? Thanks.

In theory it's possible but it'll be way too labor intensive that it won't be worth it. You will be better of going the DIY route. Look into the sponsors on the site offering led components, figure out exactly what you wanna do and set you self with a DIY kit.
