    650 wow. i though 500 was the maximum legal number, and even with wells ive never seen over 400ish. thats some nasty tap

    There is no EPA Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for TDS. TDS is considered an asthetic and not a health risk so it is not regulated. 500 was a number pulled out of a hat years and years ago but really means nothing.
    The far east valley area of Phoenix is always around 800-1200 as is the far southwest area. I am lucky up in the NW area at only 600-800 TDS.
