We made the stand today. Still have a few modifications to make. ;D
(Yes I know that the equipment is in desperate need of a vinegar bath.;))
.....Now that I look at the picture, seeing that the rug is crooked is going to bother me, lol

    :smug2:Thanks.
I began to have some doubts last night after the first couple of posts:disappoin
I had thought it looked ok but not great when I saw it online, but the more I looked at it the better it looked.
I was thinking everyone must have thought I was pretty ghetto
I kind of like how it turned out tho. Maybe attach some doors on the front, or a curtain like you suggested....might look nice. :D
I made sure we got the more expensive sturdy materials rather than the cheaply made stuff.

Well way to go! You have a sturdy tough as nails stand, and it looks great!
It's very practical-furthest thing from ghetto. Practicality is another true measurement of intelligence. Great work. :drummer:

Turned out real nice.. I must admit I cracked up when I seen the beat up looking bricks and 2 x 4's in the link. Looks good :)

This is exactly what I put my 55 on too! lol. I also didn't want a short store bought stand so we did this and made it taller. I also have a 20 gallon tall on bricks too. Except halfway up the bricks on the 20's stand I put two more pieces of wood in between to have a little shelf. Before we move we are going to build stands as tall as these for our tanks, this is just temporary because we were tired of looking at empty tanks lol. I have a 20 gallon long for the sump and it fits perfectly between the two columns of bricks. My husband's dad also has some larger tanks on stands like these and they work fine for him too. I think one of them is a 90 gallon but I am not sure. My cats liked to play in the bricks before I set them up so I guess when we build the stands I will stack the bricks together and make a kitty jungle gym for them, they could care less about the fish they like the bricks for some reason rofl.

I know, I did too. But when I looked at the second link It looked decent when it was painted. (I hate the checker pattern they did tho.)
At first I thought "Come on, that looks terrible!" But seeing the painted ones, its a huge difference.

LOL, have a kitty play ground and a stand all in one! I liked the brick idea and thought I'd just share it with everyone.
I have seen worse stands than bricks too, like old tv sets....mini fridges....old coffee tables (the hexagon ones)::)
