I have been exhausted of google-ing diy mh set ups. I dont want to pay to much because its only a frag tank / Live rock seeding tank.

    My plan.

Take my cured diy live rock, seed it with some lr. Grow some sexy coraline on it, while attaching frags to it, for future tank adjustments and for sale or trade.

I have diy lights on my tank (2X250 10k) and to replace a ballast costs around 80 bucks from a local lighting store. If you add the base, lamp and cables you are looking at well over 150. If I had it to do over I would have bought the complete package because you never know when the ballast will burn out. With a fabricated product you will get a warrenty

Not a bad idea. Im just looking for dollar cost/benefit. I think if I can pick up a used canopy and then actinic it I might be better off. I like to blue glow and its cheaper.

What brings out the color in corals best.. Daylites or actinic's..??
And the ones you are talking about aren't actinic's are they..
    Thanks, Larry

Sorry, I'm just learning about all the different types of lights....
