So glad to see you posting again, coldmarineguy!! Those shots of krill are amazing. I've never seen one live. :)

    The temperate tank.

Good to hear from onefishtwofish....most of the questions can be answered trawling through my posts....
I mainly snorkel for my specimens around an old collapsed victorian breakwater....the tides are fierce there and the corallimorphs love being in strong tidal areas where they can gather plenty of "marine snow" in the water column....I have to replicate this in my tank and have strong water flow via vortech pumps....I only use canister filtration...3 large eheims that do very well and are only washed-out every 3 months...
The beauty of living within 30 minutes of my collection area is that the specimens can go straight into the tank...natural seawater with the same ph /salinity etc....the live rock stays that way without needing to allow it to re-populate.
I take my photos under a metal halide light, left suspended over the tank after the changeover from tropical to temperate,(only there for photo-ops now, not needed for the corallimorphs as they have no zooxanxthellae.)...I use a fuji camera with an extreme macro setting...still not easy taking shots through the glass though...thank goodness we have digi stills as 90% of the shots are no good focus-wise!
It's great living by the sea, down here in the South Pacific when your hobby is keeping marine tanks!!

    Krill

Hi reef sparky....weird little guys...they form huge circular balls to protect themselves but usually get stranded at low tide...the gulls then have their christmas/new year feast as they're usually around at this time of year...somebody tried to harvest them years ago but found there wasn't enough meat on them!!

    More krill shots.

Here's a few more shots of the whale krill...some straying dangerously close to the anemone, which has already feasted on a few!

    :)

I'd imagine in sufficient numbers, they would at least make a good seafood stock!

    ColdMarineGuy,
    Good onya mate, awesome tank.
You said u got rid of the MH, so now what type of lighting do u run? I bet some of those critters are amazing under actinic......
And, do you have issues with problematic hitchhickers from your wild harvested live rock?
    Keep it Up

They sure are! I've seen bottles of fish oil tabs that list the source on the label. I've seen krill sourced tabs that are quite expensive.
