    Lighting the cold marine tank.

Lighting is simply marine white and actinic tubes...just added a strip of led's...120 0f them on a stick-on strip just purchased on a trip through Hong Kong for just 15 bucks!!...why do the mainstream led guys charge so much!! ...they're really bright and turn some of the corallimorphs flourescent at night.
No problematic hitch-hikers, although I do scrape-off some encrusting sponges,as certain types have a high wasting rate...(some do really well...trial and error)..some I collect specifically to feed some of the starfish/nudibranches)....seems that temperate water has less problems than your tropical waters in sunny Florida!

Lol I was thinking the same thing.

Awesome tank. Just last night I was telling my gf, "we should move to Alaska so we can have a cold water tank like the guy on 3reef." I must show her this thread later tonight;)

Led lighting in the temperate marine tank at night.

Here's a couple of shots under LED lighting....the corallimorphs really have a more flourescent quality than they do under actinic lighting....

New pics from the temperate marine tank.

A couple of recent additions....a green velvet finger...a pink grape sponge, and a couple of beautiful jewel anemone colonies that have now been in the aquarium for over a year..
