I actually tried one a few years back with some rockweed and local sand. Not nearly as cool as yours.

    Coldmarine more "jewel" macro shots.

Here's a few more colour variations of the "jewels" in the tank...plus a shot of one of the several dahlia anemones...really sticky sides which they camouflage with sand/weeds etc.

    That anemone is beautiful.

To review, you have a 1hp chiller, 3 Eheim canisters and an Eheim wet/dry (cool surge device there)... you got rid of the halides... what do you use for lighting now? What do you have in your canisters?

Just to add to Matts question, i believe cold water marine inverts are non-photosynthetic, (i assume this is why you got rid of the halides) do you have to feed the tank alot of filter feed and if so how often?

    filters/lighting on coldmarine

Hi Matt....yep...the eheims do a great job, even though most people go with a sump....when I'm away on business I don't have to worry about overflows or excessive evaporation...as can happen with a sump. I have the usual efimech and noodles in the baskets, plus a few bags of seachem seagel....clean them every 3 months with a fresh seawater rinse so as not to kill-off the bacteria...the tank stays crystal clear....I do replace between 30-50 litres a week with fresh ocean water, but this is a small amount in a 1000 litre tank.
Lighting is pretty basic too....3Xactinics and 1X daylight old T8's on timers for around 12 hours...that's all the tank needs as although the corallimorohs are in the same family as corals they don't have zooxanthellae to feed!

    Feeding the jewels

Hi Phoenix....As I said to Matt....you're correct, no zooxanthellae so light is not essential to their wellbeing....makes you wonder why they have so many vibrant and different colours!
Feeding has been by trial and error....I have found they thrive on a mixture of dried food and clam "juice"(clams blended into liquid).I feed the mixture of SF Bay dried plankton/brine shrimp which I also reduce to powder in a blender, twice a day...two large pinches....this is my version of marine snow and it works a treat,,,they all retract into little blobs once the food hits the tentacles then expand and look superb once the food is digested.....the clam juice is added with a turkey baster just once a month, (protein skimmer off for this, but not when dried food is added).
