reduce phosphates ( excess nutrients) make sure your bublbs arent older then 6 months, and get some hermit crabs.

Start your own thread this one is for people who like their hair algae!

Just kidding! I don't mind thread hijacking. I like to remove as much by hand as possible. It usually comes off in big clumps. I consider it a big clump of what would otherwise be toxins to my fish.

I am starting to get some that look like that but on the bright side I have 10ppm nitrates in a heavily stocked tank that got close to 20ppm before.

Most likely your hair algae is using up the nitrates and phosphates so testing wont really show whats in the water.
Water changes and GFO worked wonders for me, plus manual removal.
Mine looked exactly the same! it even hosted my clownfish haha.

Emerald crabs are the way to go if you don't have any coral for them to munch on after they run out of algae. I had 2 to take care of the hair algae and then started munching on coral so are now banished to the AC fuge. Might want to introduce one back into the tank to take care of some the algae growing back

Sure those were emerald crabs? ive never had one eat coral. it may look like they are but they are just picking algae in between the coral. pretty good addition to the cuc IMO.
