I was trying to post pics of today's re-plumb in chronological order but can't figure out how to do it with the new gallery. I can only figure out one pic at a time. Any tips?

When I uploaded photos here recently in my build I went to the "more options" button at the button right hand side of the reply box and then go to "upload a file" (assuming it is straight from your computer and not a URL/online photo album) and then you can select up to 10 photos per post. Just upload them in order that way and you can choose if you want the images to be displayed in full on your post or in thumbnail size that can be clicked and then viewed in full. Personally I liked the thumbnails, it keeps a post less cluttered. Hopefully this helped and I didn't confuse you :)

The epic re-plumb is 99% complete! My neighbor and I did the first plumb. What could be simpler? Drains to the sump, returns from the pump. I was pretty proud of how it looked.

    image.jpg

Yet... It was so darn loud I could not hear anyone else think. This is bad for business when you are a psychic. Almost as bad as running out of Eye of Newt. It reminded me if that time I went over Niagara Falls in a barrel. Wait, that wasn't me, it was my ex-husband. (No not really, it was just a pleasant dream) anyway... Time to redo. A Local club member drove 100 miles to help me silence my tank and restore my sanity. The first part worked.

First, we dismantled the old plumbing. Pretty easy, as I forgot to glue it in the first place.

    image.jpg

Then came the hard part... Finding a hardware store in Port Orford. To make it there before closing time we drove 35 mph in a 30mph zone, narrowly avoiding the attention of the local PoPo. Having secured the necessary parts before the hardware store turned into a pumpkin, we headed home, where L.J. dry-fitted our luckily-obtained parts.

I had forgotten primer and had to sand about 1,000 fittings. Since I am typing, you are probably reading in bewilderment that I did not glue my hands to the sump.

    image.jpg

5 hours later we were done. Notice how pretty it looks. Notice the expensive gate valve. Notice the difference between Helen's plumbing and Leeds. Not pictured: me frantically making SW.

    image.jpg

Here's a view from the top. Well, more of a picture of a pipe in some water. This is the emergency overflow. And if you have read any part of this thread you will know that in my tank an emergency will happen sooner or later. Usually sooner.

And here is a Picture of what my tank sounds like now: The Sound of Silence.

what did you do to get the silence?

congratulations on the re-plumb! I enjoyed your funny commentary on the experience :)

one more question, are you really a psychic??

    I knew you'd ask that :)
    Actually I'm a free-lance copywriter.

We installed a herbie drain. One drain is below the water line, and the other is above to act as the emergency overflow. We installed a gate valve on the main drain, and cranked it back to the point where the overflow box water level was high enough that there was no sound of cascading water. Another advantage is that the drain now does suck any air, it discharges into the sump with zero bubbles. The sump is as calm as a lake on a sunny day.
