that makes total sense and I probably could do that but I've always read where you don't want to impede the drain ??

and darn it, I was really hoping you were a psychic :)

That's what I read also. But with 2 drains, you can put in the emergency drain that will handle the same water quantity and the main one. If you only have one drain, I image restricting it would be a very bad idea. The emergency drain inlet is only about 1/8 inch above the max water level I want in the box, so it takes just a tiny restriction to kick right in.

You and me both. Wish I could snap you a pic, but I can't get far enough behind the tank.

So we have plumbed, re-plumbed, aquascaped and re-aquascaped. And you guys have seen me all through it. But I have an exciting announcement... We are going through a wall!
The plan is to remove the built-in bookcases and move the tank so the back faces the garage wall. So the bookcases have to go.
Demolition started today. Here's before. Sadly I forgot to take a pic before I tore off the mantle, so it's kinda after-before.

The tools. I love my tools. Splurged for the 36 volt dewalts. Manly, yes, but I like them too.

Here's the aftermath. Kinda nice to see the dirty green walls, that's what the whole house looked like when I bought it. There is already water damage to the hardwoods in that area, so I don't need to freak out about spills. And check it out! I didn't put any holes in the wall!

Next is the electrician for the garage on Thursday. Can you believe a guy in my reef club is an electrician and will be installing a dedicated circuit for free? And he has to drive 100 miles. I am truly fortunate.

I'd sand and paint tomorrow, but I'm going surf-casting. Yippee!

The date has been set. We are moving the tank and bulding the garage fishroom on Wednesday. So my question to all of you is what features do you like best in your fishroom? What do you wish you had added or done? Any pitfalls you want to warn me about?
