Chem 101 help

I am looking for some help with supliments.
I just got some Kent Iodide reef supliment. What is this ? Is it an iodine supliment or not? What is the difference between Iodine, Iodide, and Iodite ? I have seen all of them,

I also got some Strontium and Molybdenum. These seem straight forward.

Whats the deal with the Iodine stuff ? I am looking for the right coral suppliment and Iodine dipping stuff that I read here about.

Yeah +1 10acre..... Don't dose unless you know you need it and how much you actually need. TEST FIRST! I use Ocean's Blend Iodine to dip corals into after fragging or if they look bad(sometimes). you can get it here..

iodine is a compound made out of two atoms of iodine. Iodine naturally occurs in this arrangement, two atoms, because that is its natural state. Iodide is an iodine atom with a -1 charge. It is an ion that can be suspended in water. I believe iodite is an oxidized form of iodine. It has two oxygen atoms attached. Usually you don't need to dose iodine as long as you do occasional water changes. The new water will supple the proper amount of iodine. If you are using it to dip lps corals, then you can dilute it with water and dip. I have always used lugol's solution to do this, which is basically iodine, so Im not sure how much you need to add. Never dose anything that you are not testing. Iodine is a powerful antibacterial element.

Yes of course I will test but need to know what test is what. For example, does the Iodine test tell me anything about the Iodide supliment ?
