I just picked up a couple units of chemi-pure elite for my 90 gallon. I plan on using it in my phosban reactor. The question I have is should I keep it in the media bags or empty them into the reactor.

    Empty them in to it.

Thanks I was just wondering because the instructions on the chemipure containers say never to remove media from the bags.

Make sure your reactor can handle the finer parts of the media.

I did open the bags and it worked great. The media seperated due to weight of the different medias. The only problem that I had was only 1 bag would fit in the 150 reactor so I still used 1 sealed bag in my sump.

A phosban reactor is not suited for a bag-less chemi-Pure elite. You should have left the CPE in the bag and filled in the reactor with some floss if you needed to plug some gaps. Or if the bag was too large you can order the smaller bags. There are chunks in the CPE and there is also sand like compounds that you probably rinsed away or blew into your tank since that reactor has a rather course sponge. Well, at least that’s my unqualified opinion. Glad to hear that it all worked for you.
