Chemi-Pure elite

I've heard nothing but good things about this product and was thinking about ordering some. I was just wondering where to place it since I dont have a hob or canister filter. I do have a 10 gallon sump with 2 sections separated by a bubble trap. Do I just put it in one of the sections or maybe in the the filter sock where my dt drains into the sump?

 

Any where in the sump is fine it is In bags. Gust flip or mix the media every week as only the out side media will get used first.

 

You need to place them so that the water from your return flows over/through them. Just letting them sit in your sump isn't going to do a whole lot. I have 2 of them in my sump as well, under my return and they work great. I rinse them every week with the water I siphon out during my weekly water changes.

Make sure to rinse it very very well before placing it in your tank. You'll see why just us a bucket or two of ro water. Yes it will take this much to rinse it

 

Can they be placed in the sump baffles?

Can these bags and/or Purigen bags be placed between the baffles separating the refugium and return...as in this photo? My plane would be 2-3 bags oto ensure better flow over the media without hampering flow to the return. Thanks!

 

They can, as long as they are suspended in the water column and there is sufficient flow moving over/through them.

 

Any idea how susceptible these might be to tearing?

 

If you have a filter bag in, just drop the chemi-pure elite into there.

 

the baggies are surprisingly thin but at the same time not too brittle. Theres plenty of space inside the pouch for you to be able to move the media around inside it in order to cram and wiggle the pouch into the smallest of places.
