    I went to the LFS and they didn't have any phosban in stock so I bought some chemi-pure instead. After getting it home and reading the package, it says to keep it in the bag and I saw the granules are pretty small. Is anyone running this stuff out of the bag in their reactors? Right now I have it wedged in my bubble-trap but I'd like to get it in the reactor if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

    If you got just Chemi-Pure there is no GFO. You need the Chemi-Pure Elite to get the GFO which is a very small amount IME.

    The stuff I bought said it had GFO in it but wasn't labeled as "elite". It described itself as phosphate and silicate remover. It also had 2 noticeably different types of media in the bag. One that appeared to be carbon and one that was orange smaller particles as well.

    It may be an aluminum oxide, as that's another fairly common phosphate remover.

    That is the good stuff, it is a gfo and carbon mix.

    Could have been mis-labeled as just regular Chemi-Pure;
    In addition to regular Chemi-pure, Boyd Enterprises now offers Chemi-Pure Elite as an even more advanced alternative for superior aquarium cleanliness. Chemi-pure Elite aquarium filter media combines the organic removing power of original Chemi-pure and the phosphate-removal properties of ferric oxide to make the perfect filter media. If you are interested in purchasing Chemi-pure Elite click here.

    Back to your reactor question. If your reactor has the sponge type round pads to stop the granules from getting into the display you will be fine...besides, the flow should only cause a "gentle tumble" and not be blowing the media all over in the reactor tube.

    Thanks everyone, apparently it was the "elite". It is written rather small on the label. I'm using dual Two Little Fishy reactors with the foam pads. I will give it a go and see how it works out.

    I have read of people doing it, just never had a chance to find out how it worked out.

    You can also insert the bagged product in the reactor. That's how I did mine until I switched to BioPellets.
