Hey, those zoanthids I just posted a picture of just recoiled after I tested my parameters added Primer to lower my Nitrates which are at 40 and I added a capful of iodine. But now it looks like they came back out is that just a reaction to the newly added chemicals you think?

IMO, it's not a good idea to add chemicals to deal with nitrates. There are better ways to deal with them like water changes and a refugium. It may well be a reaction to what you added. What exactly did you add?

A Capful of Iodine? What kind are you using and did you happen to test to see if you even needed it? Ovedrdosing Iodine can kill a tank QUICK.

also, I second LCP! There are better ways of handling excessive nitrates.

Seachem Prime is says it Detoxifies Nitrates and Nitrites I didn't want to do a water change because I did not want to shock my newly added fish and I do not have a refugium.

be careful with adding iodine. Most tanks never weekly dose for it. Once you are using a decent salt you should be alright. Prime does increase ammonia when added, so this could be what affected your zoas.

Hi, the one cap full (5 ml) per week is for 50 gal. of water. How much total water volume do you have after subtracting for rock and substrate? I dose iodine weekly but I do have a test kit. If you are going to dose you really should get one.
