I am thinking about adding carbon to my list of chemical filtration...

Currently, I am using phosphate remover in one unit...
I wanted to add a second unit for carbon.

Do you think it's a good idea to run carbon? If yes, should the water go through the phosphate then carbon or vice versa before the chiller?

How often should I replace the phosphate/carbon from the units?

    Thanks!

I run both...through the phosban, then the carbon. I change the media once a month.

No problem...I pack the carbon reactor full. I use Kent Marine Reef Carbon.

If you are in line with your chiller, you need to look at what your flow rates are for your stuff. GFO needs low flow depending on what you are using. GAC does not really care, but you need to hold it with a sponge. It can't tumble like GFO. so with all that oyu still need adequate flow through the chiller. Just check that they are all compatible.

Carbon is good to run. I mean really, I would run carbon on a regular basis over Po4 remover.... unless you have bad PO4 problems. Carbon removes a lot of harmful stuff.
