I use chemi clean Elite all the time, not familiar with the slime remover – generally speaking I am not a fan of gimmick type “stuff”

I suggest you attempt to identify the cause rather than attempt this particular solution. Cyano is usually caused by deteriorated lighting spectrum or excess nutrients, PO4, DOC and NO3. Using an RO/DI and a good skimmer is generally a viable solution to the problem.

Edit - forgot to mention, keep up the water changes.

I used it in a pinch once to get cyano under control and it takes about 2 days to notice a difference. You need to make sure to shut any protein skimmer off and remove any carbon (if I remember correctly) then do a large water change afterward. After that you can use one more time and all cyano should be gone but it's not permanent and if you have excess nutrients you will need to find the source and get on top of that or it will come back quickly.

This was my point, skip this save the money and fix the problem. This product will require 2 days and you can get the same result in an hour with a siphon tube and a turkey baster. I have read where people used cheese cloth at the end of a siphon tube and sucked it out letting the water return to the sump. How ever you go about it, pulling it out manually will get you to the same point as this product. Lets identify your cause and discuss a viable solution.

I don't know how to fix the problem.
I have a new light fixture, about a month old, so lights aren't bad, I have a HOB protein skimmer Aqua Medic turboflotor multi sl that is rated for a 250 gallon tank and mine is only a 55 gallon.
I have HOB refugium that I have had setup for 3-4 weeks now and it has DSB, a black mangrove, chaeto and some red stuff that I got from RC as penny macro.
I also have phosphate remover and Purigen in my refugium.

I have 3 fish, 2 clowns and a mandarin dragonet. I feed 1 cube or either brine, mysis, or other omnivore diet, every other day or every third day. I give Formula one pellets on occasion.

Sounds like you doing well. The refugium needs time to take over the cyano – keep cleaning it manually and you will find that it will move to the refugium. Do not touch the refugium when you see it there.

Phosphate remover and purigen in the refugium? That seems odd, I wouldn’t put anything in the fuge except the macro’s. Cheato likes fast moving water, I like a variety of macro’s in the fuge and I follow the 10% rule (10% of DT volume per hour). Give the fuge some time and I suspect you will be fine soon – keep removing it manually.

Since I added the refugium, I don't have room on the back of my tank to put my HOB aquaclear filter on. so I just sat the purigen and phosphate remover bags in the refugium.
