I've used it with no ill effects. The over all problem of high nutrients must be solved though. Cyano will just come back if you don't get things under control.

It did eliminate the cyano in my tank, but I agree that the water quality that allowed cyano to exist is more problematic than the actual cyano unless it's suffocating a coral. I did add an aerator, and was able to see initial results in a day and complete disappearance in a few days. But it's something you'll have to keep using if you don't remedy the source of the problem, and since the water condition that allows for cyano isn't ideal for any of the inhabitants anyway, it'd be best to also take measures to improve water quality.

I recently changed from tap to RO/DI, so I have built up nutrients. I also think I just need to be more religious about water changes.

I have used it and it worked for me. However...I used it to clean up some remaining cyano AFTER I had purchased a RO/DI unit, phosphate reactor and stopped feeding too much food. After using the product once, cyano was gone for good.

I still get some spots in my sump occasional and my NO3 is zero, PO4 usually less than .05 so it can come back in spots with even with good water quality.

I read that is might have something to due with alkalinity needing to be higher or magnesium needing to be higher. All relative to your system, and nothing to do with being in the suggested range.
