Ok, i know with my luck with nippers and my ember blenny that ravaged my acro, I should not even BEGIN to think about this fish, but I was wanting to know people who have had problems with this guy and their corals.

I know pufferchick (who never comes on anymore, so I will speak for her) has a cherub and it doesn't touch her coral or clam.

ok cool. RC has a 200 post thread where a guy made a spreadsheet with everyone's angel experiences. Centropyge argi was a good 91% reef safe. Only one report of a nipper but that was LPS and zoas

While doing research for an angel for my tank I read that cherubs are "reef safe" but there is always the exception to the rule.

I say try it! :) IF you do, make sure to get a young baby and keep it well fed. I read the younger you get them, the less the chance of them bothering coral.

yeah? great insight thanks! I just dont know if its worth the risk. My blenny and goby were supposedly reef safe too and I got hit with bad PE for a month or two and lost a small colony.

You will have to decide for yourself. But I have a pygmy angel (Brazilian fireball) and he is a model citizen. Doesn't touch a thing and is so active and colorful. He's my favorite fish!

not a cherub but I just added a Dwarf. I got the half black dwarf angel. I dont have coral yet so we will see how he does as I add them. from what I can from reading, so long as they have plenty of other tings to eat, they will leave coral alone.

mine is a little shy at the moment as I rescued him from petco last night. the had a beautuful bi color who was under 1 1/2" long there too but it didnt eat when she put the food in so I passed. he was extremely shy. this half black was extremely active, but you could tell he was agitated due to no hiding places. im sure he is truly enjoying the 300lbs of liverock in my 180.

the only other inhabitants I have in the tank are a clown and a goby, so he will get to enjoy the calm environment untill the sohal and or clown tangs arrive next weekend.

IMO, they have a little bit more of a chance of nipping corals then a coral beauty or flame angel, but it really depends on the individual fish. My CB so far has left everything alone. It's also not guaranteed that if you feed it well, it won't go after corals. I've known dwarf angels that were fed multiple times a day and they still went after corals.

I would be more concerned about the aggression of a Cherub angel, when small, it's not as big of a deal, but as they grow, they can meaner and more aggressive.

first real post in a while :D

i have a cherub myself, and he has not touched a thing, lps, softies, clam, and leather. I do feed him 3 times a day and he eats like a pig, so i think that helps lessen the chance of him nipping at the corals. Before buying my cherub they were listed among one of the most reef safe angelfish.

yeah thanks guys, I really want to get one lol. You guys aren't convincing me agaist it, but I now have 20 some odd SPS frags in there that I think I love more than any fish ill ever have so we will see. I'm gonna also vet my new goby. Ive lost more fish in this 5 month tank than i love in 7 years in by bowfront so im gonna wait on a baby fish. The rainsford goby is doing great and my damsel isnt even picking on him so i think I got a pretty good yellowtail.
