I'm glad you're considering, they're a little bit of a learning curve,it didn't take long for me to figure out less was better and I don't have a handle on sps like you do (yet :cheesy:),start low, work up slowly.I have nothing but the utmost confidence in you.

    Hey Matt,

Actually I believe I did check out that thread. I like the sleek look to it. Having some T5 to it would make me feel more comfortable about the switch.

    Nice site too.

    :)

    Thanks Don,

Well I am not sure I do. The Pink Stylo is now a pale Stylo. Too much light too quick.

Besides providing a feeling of comfort, what would T5's do for you?

I see a lot of tanks that are complete T5 the have great SPS coloration. It may seem like I am missing a basic component of LED tech and I am sure that is true but when I looks at most tanks that are completely T5 and compare those to most LED tanks I like the coloration of the corals better under T5 and MH for that matter.

What I do not like is the heat of either MH or T5 fixtures or energy.

Currently I am behind in newer T5 technology as well but I know that some bulb types really add to the coloration of the corals, well they appear to have better coloration under higher end bulbs.

What did you run prior to the LED and what fixture do you have?

But my Spider senses are working just fine.LOL
My Momma always said if you don't have something nice to say about someone make sure he/she is not in the room.:)

It was easy for me to convert. Not only do I have an extra LED fixture, I still have my old T5 fixture collecting dust.I will never go back.:p

Good question Jerry........ He has the same fixture that I do.Taotronics.He helped me not make the mistake of buying the unit with an equal number of blue/white led's or more white then blue.Ours have 30 blue and 25 white.

I ran a 6 bulb TEK with all ATI bulbs. Now I have two Taotronics, non-dimmable. I just did Todd's mod, which is basically taping over some of the white LED's.::) The fixture has too much power and too much white. I was able to lower the light, increase the white light time (I was down to 4 hrs) and now the color is very good.
