Beautiful corals Cheryl, do the ice bag in the tank trick to cool it down. Turn off the heater also just in case it thinks it should be running.

Hey John, that is my next move for sure.

The reality has set in and I know I have said it before but I need a bigger tank. These nano's are just too swing prone and I am getting weary of dealing and adjusting it.

    Thank you for the compliment.

Oh and no heater, even in winter I do not need one, but I need a chiller in summer.

    Thank you Renee.

Sincerely means a lot to me. :)

I can definitely relate.Reef Nano's IMO are a handfull.Even with an experienced aquarist such as yourself. I didn't realise what a pain it was untill I took it down.:(

    Yup.

I am have been scouring craig list, going to petsmart, doing forums.

Do not get me wrong Nano's are absolutely wonderful tanks but you pay the price in chillers, ATO,.......testing equipment and constant tweaking.

Currently I am looking for something in the 40 breeder to 55 gallon range.

    :)

Cheryl I would go with the 40 breeder before a 55 due to more scaping room front to back.

65 gallon would be my pick if I was looking for that footprint. It's a taller 40 breeder, for those that don't know.

Great looking corals, Cheryl. Tell the clownfish I said "Hi". lol

Do you know what's creating so much heat? Did you go back to the MH hood?

FWIW, I now have 5 pumps in my tank, and even with a glass cover and my T5 lights only 4 inches above the water, the heater still has to run occasionally to keep the temp at 78F. (My AC is set a 72, however.)

Excellent point John. There was a 40 gallon at Petsmart the other day. Now do not laugh but that tank looked huge. I had a hard time believing it was a 40 gallon.

Going to have to look around for a 65 gallon, I do not see a lot of those out there. I am looking for shallow too, or else I will do the deep sand bed thing again.

There are only 3 power heads but the ambient indoor really never gets down to 78 even if the AC is set on 78.

It's 3:15 pm my time and it's 105.6 F out side, should get to 109 today again. The house never cools off so the tank never really cools.

Most corals are doing fine with the temp, except no growth and decreased PH but no STN except my favorite maricultured Green Mille. I am trying to save it best I can. Aww well, I am not buying any more maricultured pieces. Going to stick with aquacultured. Those maricultured and wild pieces can not tolerate any stress.

Next tank is going to have chromis, no more clowns.
Refractometer ? for you guys and gals. Anyone calibrate their refractometer to DI?

I did to RO/DI and I fouynd that it was off by about 0.004 (specific gravity) when I calibrated with 35 ppt calibration fluid.
