Brain fart! No idea why I wrote 2'...Good catch though!

Good choice! I think it is a very sensible upgrade from a 28 nano. Definitely go with a drilled overflow, no questions about it!

Long does not really matter to me, width and height does. Lighting fixture taken into account again.

I am not looking to stock with bigger fish or a lot more corals. Looking for that extra stability that increased volume of water will give me with the sump included.

Congrats on the Petco!! Hopefully, you'll get one that has a well managed salt department. I've heard that some have found stores that actually keep healthy fish and corals. I know you're mainly going for the salt and such.

You are inspiring me a bit in thinking about a different tank. The 65 sounds awesome to me. I've never maintained a sump and I'm a little nervous about it actually.

Anyway, I'm happy for you and your decision. Now, you can keep all kinds of cool stuff :)

FYI. The reason the 40B looked bigger than 40 gallons is because it is. Its actually 44.88 ;D

    This made me smile Chris.

While I do have a distant memory of that fact, I went back to the tank 3 times and looked at the label. Then I proceed to ask the BF what he thought, yeah that was pointless.

In the reptile section they had the same tank just packed differently with a screen lid. I am not sure you can drill that one but it was 10$ less.

If I am not mistaken Petco is having their $1 a gallon sale right now, and Petsmart has a $2 a gallon sale. I'm not sure if the reptile tank is any different. I know most of what petco sells is Aqueon brand which can be drilled.

personally i love the 40 breeder. i use one for a sump and constantly admire the dimentions. i would pair it with a 20 high sump or a 29 if ya have the room. will the new 40 be a barebottom tank?
