Chevron Tang vs Purple Tang

    thanls pickupman, i feed every other day, seaweed im between feeds. Is this acceptable i have not had any problems so far but they really love the pellets
    soaked in selcon......

    John, so long as they are a good high quality, that should be good. I have never been a fan of pellets as I dont like the way they either float or sink. I like the way the flake can be blown around a bit in the water column. I feed mine Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 (green lid). I feed this at least 90% of the time and maybe weekly if I can remember I will feed them some home made frozen. mine are fed daily but they are large fatties as the smallest of the trio is the purple at 5".

    all are very fat and LOVE to eat. I have never had an issue of HLLE disease in any of my tangs and all have lived very healthy lives on this type of diet. I am a very lazy reefkeeper and I have found this works for me.

    keep in mind, the purples can be very agressive to new additions, so keep that into consideration when adding another fish, especially a tang. my purple didnt like the Pyramid butterfly I got when added and tried to stand up to a much Larger Sohal.
