Many wait 8-9 months before adding a nem.

I agree, anemones need a well established stable system, no less than 6 months and probably closer to a year.

I was referring to the CSPDI which is the second unit down.

Prefilters and carbon blocks get replaced every 6 months like clockwork, the membrane itself should last for years, at least 5 or more in the case of the Spectrapure units if you keep up with the filter replacements and use their recommended replacements.

Take a look at www.spectrapure.com , they have a ton of hook up diagrams, manuals, drawings and FAQ 's that should help you decide on how and where to mount it. A sink adapter is like $12 which allows you to snap it on and off your kitchen faucet easily or you can get a self piercing saddle valve or many other options, all can be found on their website under Products, Misc. Parts along the left hand side of the main page.

    found this site

    RO/DI Systems

I'll probably end up with the $160 one to get the larger DI canister. talked to the guys there and they're really helpful and knowledgeable. i need to go home and check my water pressure, because if the supply line isn't 50 psi or higher then the RO membrane essentially won't work. hopefully i can get one.

They're actually not as good as the Spectrapure CSP-DI, and they're basically guys with no experience doing this on the side. For example, you don't need 50+ psi to run a RO membrane - 40psi is the minimum. I run mine at 42psi with no problems, and still get a 98.9% rejection rate. AZDR can tell you more about his experience.

Also, on the value side, look at their extras on that unit:

    "ADD ONS:
    PRESSURE GAUGE KIT - $12
    MEMBRANE FLUSH VALVE - $10
    RO BYPASS VALVE - $12
    DUAL TDS METER - $35
DUAL DI SYSTEM - E-MAIL FOR PRICING
    AUTO SHUT-OFF - $8
    100 GPD FILMTEC MEMBRANE OPTIONAL - $5""

The three I bolded are standard on the $145 CSP-DI from Spectrapure, the first two of which are absolutely necessary to be running an RODI for maintenance purposes. The FG one with those features is now $207. That's not even to mention the differences in prefilter and DI resin quality.

They have a saying for this: "Penny-wise, pound-foolish".

You can get a $66 unit that is a piece of junk like that one and won't give you good water to begin with and will have a ruined membrane within a year, or a $145 unit that will pay itself back many times over its lifetime.

With RO/DI you really do get what you pay for and cheap is just that.
The Spectrapure units are normally $100 more than they are in this sale promotion, take a look at their regular website and you will see.
The Filter Guys would be one of my last choices, they give some shaky advice and did me very wrong once so I will not forget it nor will I steer anyone to their mediocre units.
Compare a treated and tested membrane, custom blended DI resin, 0.5 micron absolute rated prefilter and 0.5 micron to theirs and they fon't offer any of the above at any price much less for $145.
The ebay units don't even need commenting on, they are very low quality drinking water units at best.
