chile coral/1st chalice

Picked up a chile and my first chalice today. From what I understand the chalice should be ok on my sanded. I put the chile upright and now he's laid himself down on sanded is that normal for them to do

 

Yes it is and they are not photo-synthetic so you will need to feed it daily when the polyps open. You should also place it in the shade so algae will not grow on it.

 

Placed in shade so that should be good, now just to feed it

 

You will need cyclops or something of that size.

 

Phytofeast live, Artemia Nauplii, Rotifers will all work.
Something like this will work well, most NPS tanks I've seen use it:
