I bought a beautiful chili coral about a month ago. It was doing great. It would stand up and its hairs were out. The last week or so, it lays down more than its up, and I don't see its hairs out anymore. Whats wrong with my chili? What do I need to do. Twice a week I feed all my corals. My fish get fed every night.

Thanks for the help guys, you are the best

Well, I would try to lower the nitrates. Feeding the corals twice a week and feeding the fish every day is a lot, the excess food could help be contributing to the high nitrates. Some corals are more sensitive to nitrates than others. It could also just be going through a little phase. My GSP, acans and zoas will sometimes contract for no reason, sometimes for days at a time, especially the gsp. It may just come back on its own.

Thanks, I have cut down on feedings. Like I said, I just didn't know if this was normal for them to lay down like this. It comes back up but not for long.

Chili corals are supposed to be mounted upside down from a roof of a cave made in live rock. In other words, no to little light. Since they are non-photosynthetic, they must be target fed every day.

They are not supposed to stand up
