Its getting hot in socal, and my aquarium temps are ranging between 82 and 84. I have a small fan placed on the hood, but its not doing the job. Does anyone recommend any particular chiller for this size tank?
    Thanks in advance

either right after or right before you do your next water change, it's totally up to you, take some tank water in a ziplock and freeze it then when you need to cool the tank down it will...heck make fresh too :)

yeah since chillers are so expensive i will put ice in zip loc bags and float them in the tank and its help cool the water temp down. I have 500 watts of halides on my 55 and it creates so much heat. my tank water this summer hit 89 degrees one day... so i always gotta keep a watch. chillers are to expensive for my budget

Even better are 2L soda bottles...freeze those.

Maybe get a bigger fan and add one on the sump too. I have a 135 gallon with 2 fans and they keep the temp in check with no problems at all.

I use an Oceanic 1/10 on my Biocube 29 and it works great.

I say a JBJ 1/15hp up to 40g or 1/10 for up to 130g in case you want to upgrade. I personally like to go with a bigger chiller that way it doesn't have to work so hard. It pays off in the long run, just my 2 cents:)

    You think a 1/10 will keep a 130g stable??? Everyone I've talked said to get a 1/4 or maybe a 1/5

you can definitely go bigger so the chiller doesn't have to work as hard. I think the 1/10 will work since it's rated up to 130g, it really just depends on how much you want to spend and looking in the future when you decide to get huuuge tank;D. I have a 150g and I'm running a 1/3hp.
