    Since my new lights addition the temp in the tank is getting a little hotter than I'd like. When the MH lights go out after running for 6 hrs the temp in the tank is at 83 -83.5 deg before they go on the temp is 80deg. My questions are what should I be looking for in a good chiller? What's a good brand,price,size ,place to buy,ect? My tank is a 125gal TIA

    i had the same problem and got a clip on fan that comes on when the lights do,works like a charm but increases evap a bit..as for chillers i would never ever ever buy one,, i would however buy a minifridge,drill 2 holes in the top,coil about 50 feet of airline tubing and experiment with a drip rate to find the right flow.

    Not a bad idea on the fridge, I'll try a fan this weekend when I have some time to dink with it, do you have the fan blowing on the water or the fixture? My fixture has built in fans that run when the lights are on , so I don't know how much another fan will help,but I'll give it a shot lot cheaper than a chiller.

    yeah the minifridge is much much cheaper and essentially the same thing,, i got sick of looking at the fan above the tank and put it over the sump and it worked just as well for me.but watch out wherever you put it for condensation as it could theoretically start a fire{not likely though}

    I've seen many fire hazards pics on this web site with there wires, no drip loops, way to many plugs on a small extention cord, ect. We've all been there though. Thanks over the fuge she'll go then

    We installed a 1/10 JBJ chiller because of high temps & moderate temp swing. It works beautifully. It keeps the temp between 77 & 78 degrees. The only thing we didn't expect, but should have known is that it cut down on our water flow (we have it connected to our main pump & return). We upgraded our pump & everything is fine.
