This maybe silly but did you vacuum the area that the dust collects near the intake? You seem like you're very thorough so just thought I'd drop that tip since its use was unknown.

Nice score! A 1 hp chiller will actually be OK, as the more chiller you have, the less it will run, as it cools the water much quicker than a smaller one.

As for cleaning the intake screen, most chillers have removable screens, or at least the front panel comes off for easy cleaning.

Be sure to leave at least a foot in front of and behind the chiller, and if it's in a cabinet, be sure to vent it, esp the exhaust.

Thanks OFK. I was super stoked to find it. After it was on the local forum for at least 12 hrs I'm surprised I was the first there.
Yes they are. I'm sure it's + up there in years but the newer model from Hailea aqua medic goes for $980. So free isn't a bad deal. Lol. Thanks again.

I did. There is a little dust on the top but I had taken the outside off and cleaned the whole guts of it and wiped down the intake area. Thanks for the tip.

So it's not bad to have a bigger chiller. Cool. Thanks Greg. Yea this was the best deal I think I've ever gotten.

The chiller will actually be on my deck. Outside. It is covered but I will also be building a cabinet for it to still protect it from the elements. I just have no room in the stand or next to it to house this beast. I will plumb it through the wall right into my sump. I will make sure it has plenty of room to breath, thanks Greg.
