I am considering moving my chiller out into my garage so that during the summer it will not be fighting with my air conditioner and to reduce the noise in the house. Any thoughts or concerns about my chiller being in my garage? Thanks in advance for any and all input.

    I'm in a similar situation... 2 considerations

    1. Plumbing: You'll have to have a more powerful pump. When pipes get longer head pressure isn't just about vertical lift, so figure out what the head pressure would be including any horizontal sections as well.

    2. Garage Heat. I live in New Mexico, and our daytime highs in the summer can hit 110ºF or more. My garage can climb above that. Most electronics and electro-mechanical devices are not designed to run at those elevated temperatures for very long, if at all.

if the concern is that you might save $8-10 a month on your cooling bill in the summer, consider the cost of replacement if the chiller burns out because it's overheating in an enclosed garage.

Also, there's a lot of physics involved in heat flow (all energy is heat, and the universe is a closed system) and I'm not convinced I would see much savings. The heat is in the house... if it's in the tank, moved out to the chiller, or put in my garage. The only way I could imagine a serious difference would be if the chiller was in a separated structure that's ventilated....

I am probably going to build a small cabinet around the chiller and use a small blower fan to exhaust it outside via an unused drier vent in my laundry room area of the garage, with an incoming air port drilled/cut a few feet away from the outlet vent. I could set it up on a thermostat, so I am not pulling air in and out all day...

I too live where the daytime highs in the summer do get to 110 and above (Phoenix, AZ) the garages out here are not air tight and it would be in a two car garage not like it is in a closet or a cabinet like you are thinking about doing. We usually leave our garage door open about an inch or two in the summer to promote circulation. The chiller should be able to handle the 20 to 40 degree ( 100 to 120 ) outside temps. We set our house at 78 in the summer. I also believe that I would see more than 8 to 10 dollars a month savings.

I had my chiller in my garage in Florida. No issues.
