im trowing around an idea to have my chiller's return water to go in to my tank insted of my return section in my sump. the one thing im worried about is the reverse siphon if my power goes out. what are some of my options to prevent this siphon.

Drill a siphon break, or leave the line out of the water. Don't know hao much flow you will have but if you just drop it down, or barely have the line in the water you should not have much of a problem.

What you do know is your return pump will siphon back. So if your chiller return is higher than that one you will not siphon back any more than you already do.
