I use a 1/3 hp Tradewinds on my display tank like it. I just take my return pump to a manifold and then run one port to the chiller. Great insurance to have, even if it never comes on.

I have heard the prime are louder than some other chillers. I just got the JBJ 1/4 HP since it is in the living room. It's somewhat overkill for my 90 but best to plan for the future. The only issue I have had with it so far was that a screw had come loose that held the fan cage inside to the body and was creating a rattling sound. I fixed it last night and everything is good.
I really like how easy it was to disconnect my hoses and pull the cover off of the unit. Removed 2 hoses (plastic screw nuts, 7 screws to hold the shell together, 2 quick disconnects for the wires, and I was in.

The JBJ has two top mounted plastic disconnects that end in 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 inch barbs that you can connect to whichever hose is your preference. I have mine spliced off my external pump return so that I am running roughly half the output to the DT and the other half through the chiller and back into the sump. The speed is controlled by ball valves.

I'll see if I can get some pictures up tonight or tomorrow. I have heard the TradeWinds are excellent but they ended up out of my price range. Otty has all the really good stuff. ;)
