So I bought a 90 gallon all glass in the box for 150 from craigslist. during the long haul up the stairs the door handle banged into the side of the tank and chipped it. The chip is on the outside in the middle of the glass, about half way up, and on the left quarter. The chip doesn't go all the way through the glass. The glass is also about 3/8" thick. I don't want to try filling it up becasue if I can save the tank by patching it I want to do that before putting preasure on the glass.

How can I fix this or will it even mess anything up? I've read that I can epoxy a piece of glass (about 2" by 2") over the crack and it should be ok.

Has anyone dealt with this problem before and how can I fix it? Or should I just replace the whole piece of glass.

I have a couple chips external and internal on my 90, It seems fine for now dont know long term, but you should be ok as long as its not in the inside on a structural place such as a corner. Is your glass tempered? I think in non-tempered glass its not so critical. Just my 2 cents, by the way im no expert 8).
