I would like to add some hard corals to my tank maybe soft corals. Are there any that are starfish resistant? I've heard they dine on them?

just a suggestion but your options will be wider if you rid yourself of the cc star in a reef tank

Which way do I go to get corals :)

I guess I better start from the beginning... :)

My tank is a 72 gallon bow front, I have a canister filter (for 150 gallon tank), a 100 gal cap. red sea prizm skimmer, and a 150 gph powerhead. Temp is 78, salinity is 1.023, ammonia 0. I have 48 lbs of LR with red, orange algae.

My stock is 1 CC star, 2 percula clowns, 1 yellow tang, 1 Humbug, 1 emerald crab. And just this morning I believe I see what is a baby shrimp.

I will try to get a picture of it. I saw him emerge from my LR last night but couldn't tell what it was until this morning. Assuming my skimmer or filter doesn't get him I may be able to identify him. He was about 1/8th inch long and translucent, slightly pink/peach colored.

As far as lighting goes. I have 760 watts being shipped to me. Two 250 metal halides with 4 actinics and 6 lunar whites.

Assuming I trade the CC star out am I close to having a good setup for some corals and anenome's? I'll like to have at least one anenome for my clowns to home in.

    Thanks for the help.

with those new lights any coral can be housed

    suggestions:
    salinity 1.026 instead of 1.023
a sump instead of canister filter
    a refugium

the baby shrimp maybe copopod, what are your parameters i.e. Ca, Mg, dKH

The dKH is 5.0, I haven't tested calcium yet. Figured I would do so after I got my new lights hung and before I went coral shopping.

Isn't 1.026 too high for my livestock?

You should be testing for Ca now not after you bring corals home that need it to live. Your looking at this totally backwards. Parameter should be rock solid before you start adding things to the tank. What is your Mg?
I keep my salinity at 1.025 so I don't think 1.026 is high. Really just personal preference.
