One way people treat starfish is with iodine. Dab it full strength on the wound, but first you need to figure out what the problem is. Starfish are very sensitive to changes in water parameters and require a long acclamation process and they don't really ship very well and are very seceptable to necrosis.Keep an eye on him and if it looks like the arm is starting to "dissolve" you may need to take a razor blade and cut the arm off right behind the bad sopt and treat with iodine. This seems cruel but if you don't do this the necrosis will spread tiil he's gone. If he just burned himself on the heater he may be ok but you need to move the heater or put something over it where he can't get to it.
