Looking good Chris! with the dimension you provided, tank size is close to 70 gallon (but i think you know that). Great job on the scape too!

I gotta admit when i had only one MP40 in my 90 gallon, i wasnt 100% happy, more like 75%? With a huge luck tho, I got a hold of a second MP40 (used), Ive been 120% happy since. Its all talked about, but the MP40 creates thicker flow and undertow ability is no comparison to a maxi jet.

Todd is talking about a different propeller pump from great China that came out recently. Its a knockoff of Tunze pumps.

Thanks :) Yeah I think I have it the best its going to get, but it still sounds bad at several percentages. I plan to call ecotech tomorrow and see what they say.

Its kinda hard to see but here is a pic I took with the phone lastnight to try to show the groove that was created in the magnet on the dry side by the tiny metal shavings....

Thanks! Yeah tank calculators all say it is 67.5g.... but at 52 it started rolling over the overflow. The entire system holds ~62g.... I kept track of every gallon that went in originally ;).

I think I have a bad vortech, until lastnight it was certainly lackluster. It is finally starting to loosen up and push more flow/show it has an undertow.... but it still sounds like my neighbor is running his weed wacker all day everyday . I've adjusted/ aligned this thing for hours and it just don't stop.... and see above pic of the groove in the magnet from the tiny metal shavings from the slightly stripped screw holding the magnet/motor inplace. :(

Called Ecotech today, described the issues I am having and the noise it is making and the rep said it sounds like a dry side problem so they are shipping out a new unit since I haven't even had it a week!

Yeah hopefully they took care of me anyway... A couple people I have talked to said I should have gotten an email confirmation, but I haven't received one still. I plan to call tomorrow to see whats going on and make sure they sent it out.

Thank you. The tank is still super young but I have been pleased so far :)

I should be adding in 2 new pieces from theblueglow.com tomorrow, TBG Solar Flare, and Hellboy... Super stoked!! :)

MP40 I just received from Ecotech before even plugging it in:

The new one is 3 weeks older then the original, and I kind of think it may be refurbished even. It already has a double grove, I removed the small dust/metal shavings that were on it, and the powder coating has been sanded off around the area where the pin spacer goes......

If I use the new one together how they sent it, it is actually worse then my original and the electric motor whine is slightly worse.

If I swap the wetsides with eachother they are both free of vibrations, however the one they just shipped still has a louder electric motor whine.

That I not cool. I feel bad that you are having to deal with that. I think it's worth giving them another call. I cannot stand getting refurbished merchandise. Never ever as good as original. Sorry to hear about that.

Yeah I am not happy at all. 1st I never got an email with tracking info or even saying they shipped it, so I missed the delivery yesterday, then when I do get it I get one that doesn't seem to be a brand new one when I paid nearly $500 for a brand new one.... I could have bought a used one for $225 :(

I'd call. That is not acceptable.
