I got a new 48" Outer Orbit with the two 150w MH lights for christmas and I am worried that it might do more damage to my corals than good. I have a 55gal reef tank right now and I was running PC's and everything is doing fine. Would it be a mistake to use this light system on my tank?

    TIA

    I would use it...
However, I would slowly get my tank used to the new lights.

Don't just remove your PC's and start using the MH ....

I would start with 2 hours a day with the MH, each day - increase it by 1 hour untill you hit 10 hours of usage on the MH.

Switching it all in one quick shot, has a higher chance at loss..

    So like this:

Friday: 2 hours MH / 10 hours PC
Saturday: 3 hours MH / 9 hours PC
Sunday: 4 hours MH / 8 hours PC
Monday: 5 hours MH / 5 hrs PC
Tuesday: 7 hours MH / 3 hrs PC
Wednesday: 10 hrs MH / 0 hrs PC

That's the scale I used switching a buddies tank to MH from PC's.

On a side note, I am one of those folks who run blue for 12 hours and daylight for 10 hours.

Good luck! and grats on the new "toy"
