I think FoD means ammonia is not built up enough so FoD wants to get some small cheap schooling fish to build it up

The initial cycle is just about over. The 4 week one. Not the full cycle, which takes months. I just want to keep enough waste in there that my bacteria will not die off. I do not want to start stocking this tank until after the new year. I just want a bio load to get me through the next couple months without my bacterial population dropping.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Ahh got you.

Then I would go with chromis. Anything else may be very difficult to remove in the future.

    K+ for taking it slow.

    :)

Yeah trying to. Still getting equipment in line too. I figured a small school of Chromis would be nice to watch while the rest of the equipment/plans get done.

yeah, I wasn't trying to talk you out of chromis, but just wanted to let you know what to expect with them... I went to the LFS today and got four of them just for the heck of it because I haven't tried them in such a long time (and hadn't had success with them before, but I've come a long way since then)...

Apparently, it's possible to get tank raised ones these days, and they supposedly fair well compared to the wild caught ones (as with just about anything) of days past.

I think it's a good choice for a starter fish, you can't go wrong with them, just that they may not last you very long... ask your LFS if the ones they get are tank raised... and best of luck with them!

The ones I have are tank raised, btw... I'll let you know how they do.

I put in 7 of them for my 90g. Took 2 weeks and there was only 1 left. But on a good note that one is still in there and its been like 6 months. Wimpy fish!!

Anyone that has them, or has had them...

Were they added after something else was already in the tank? How'd they do?

Were they added first, before any other fish? How'd they do?

It seems that everything I read on Chromis not doing well is when they are added to an established aquarium, with tankmates that have territorial boundaries.
