I workhorse 5 ballast would be fine with that.

How do I hook one up to a pronged wire to plug into an outlet.

I finally got an aqualifter for my float switch. The gravity fed system simply didn't work. My tank had more evaporation per day than the container I have held. Now I have the aqualifter sitting on a 5 gallon bucket, feeding to the valve. Works like a charm.

Checked my calcium today and it was at 360. I added the calcium part of the 2-part that I had and brought it up to 390-400. I'll need to get some dry calcium chloride . I would like to maintain it at around 420-430. I would like to keep it at 450, but I don't know how accurate my RedSea kit is so I want to keep it lower (but not too low) to compensate for error.

Ordered some phosban for my reactor, refractometer calibration fluid and dry calcium chloride. Things are definitely getting better and growing.

nice...where is your alk? The reason I ask, usually if ca is low, alk is high.

Wish I knew. My alk. kit is compromised. Theoretically, it should be fine. I ended up doing almost a complete water change right before I moved my tank. Haven't dosed either.

Retested the calc this morning and it's holding true at 390-400 again. So it's remained steady for 18 hours. That's a good sign for my alk, right?

Anyways, I'm going to add just under a tablespoon (2.5 teaspoons) of calcium chloride to the first compartment of the sump whenever I get my shipment from Bulkreef. That should bring me to 420-430 ppm, which is right where I want to be.

I've noticed some things incrusting a bit and growing, but I can't imagine a few corals dropped my calc. so low, so quickly. Not sure what caused it to be so low to begin with, but that doesn't really matter now. Salinity is at 1.026-1.027, but I'll verify that once the Bulkreef shipment arrives.

The skimmer is really collecting some black stuff too. Must be the bacteria.
