I'm 2 yrs 23 days smoke free! Meds didn't help me. Tried for yrs but no go... finally got a REAL e cig from premiumecig. & charged it the day I got it just to try! Was going to "start for real" after the weekend (lol) & once I took the 1st drag off of it - it was good enough for me! SO close to the real thing! Mine was NOT the nicotine habit but the HAND to MOUTH habit! go figure! I used to joke about having an oral fixation! (guess I really did!) BEST thing I ever did was to buy 2 of them! I had 1 charging while using the other. I knew if I ran out of battery I would be at the corner store in 3.2 minutes!!! Never ran out of battery between the 2 of them! Never had to go buy cigs! Never wanted another puff of the real things - I really liked the non-tobacco flavor. Got the flavor out of your mind from cigs too. I used a coffee flavor & a chocolate flavor. They aren't strong - just a very slight hint of something besides tobacco. It helped!
The BIGGEST thing that helped after the initial quitting, even after a stressful day or a night out drinking - was exactly what Cosmo said! I put $5 in a jar every single day for the 1st year!!! After my anniversary I was so excited to count it up. 2 months later my husband & I were on a cruise to Belize! :) That was WELL worth it!
Good luck to you! Everyone is different so do what works best for what triggers you!

This all sounds really familiar. The whole group smoking. Wanting to quit but not wanting to. I'm similar to you when it comes to addiction too when I quit it was never the physical withdrawals that sent me back to smoking. I smoked for like 7 years with the last two being in secret because I couldn't admit to my family that I failed at quitting. The first week was crucial for me so what I did was left home for a week and went back and visited my parents. I kept myself busy and with some will power about ignoring it when it did come up helped. The biggest reason I relapsed every time I quit was i'd get a few weeks/months in and would let my little addiction voice tell me that one more smoke won't readdict you and it always eventually would. All in all stay strong and get yourself into a different scene for a bit. It'll help with not caving when your friends are all whipping them out. Those were always my weakest times anyway. Good luck hang in there and remember that there's no such thing as only one more.

thanks for sharing your experience! I've quit for a couple weeks or months at a time before, but then I'll be out at the bar or something and think "what's the harm?" I think keeping yourself busy is key, I've been thinking about doing another round of p90x because lets face it, a workout like that is impossible while smoking lol!

thank you and congrats on quitting! I've got the "tornado tank" from totally-wicked e-cigs and really like the hits and amount of vapor it made. It's just so freakin big and dorky looking, lol.

Wow this is crazy I just got a speech this morning about from my girl. I hid it for three years lol she never knew. But I think its time maybe we should try together and see what happens maybe we could get a couple people together. But its more after I eat anytime I get in or out of car if I have a drink does not seem right without it. Any type of labor lol. If I cook dinner. ...... ... sounds like I have a problem. But I smoke shall I say it..... ... maryjane as well. But that's only before bed really. Helps with my sleep beljve it or not and before had serious insomnia. So maybe we could.

I see Pts in the E.D. (E.R.). When getting a history, I ask them if they smoke. If they quit, I encourage them. If they smoke, I often tell them it's the top 3 worst thing they can do to themselves. The few times I was asked what the other 2 are, I said self injecting drugs, and wasn't sure of the 3rd, but it's top 3.

I hope you quit. I never had to luckily, but I know by education how addicting Nicotine is.

    Good luck.

Quitting is the best thing you can do for yourself- long term.

I quit back in 2002 using the patch. I smoked for 33 years!!! I used the 21mg patch for two weeks...then the 14mg patch for 2 weeks and then the 7mg patch for 1 week. I haven't touched a smoke since!!! I won't even begin to tell you how much I now HATE them!! Believe it or not I can actually SMELL a smoker from 15+ feet away. YUCK YUCK YUCK! How did I put my friends and family through this crap? My son!!!
What was hardest for me? Honestly, looking back on it, it's was pretty damn easy. Because I wanted to quit!! And the longer I went the less I wanted them back :)

    P.S.

I used StarBurst Suckers with the plastic sticks after every meal and when I got into the car. Sucker parts were good but chewing the hell outta the sticks was better LMAO!

OHH me too! I had vicious nightmares, i eventually had to take them off before bed, it was crazy!

Oh yeah, smokers reek! I had this really hot (way too young for me) chick ask me out the other day, but her breath just reeked. Told her to look me up when she quit and in about 10 years! lol
I told myself i'd never be that anti smoking *******, but I am. I have no problem walking up to people smoking in cars with kids, or even near the front door of my business. hypocrite i know, but i've developed a hatred of them. sorry
