Hello all, just getting ready to start a salt tank after years of fresh.
    got a 72gal bow, 220skimmer, sump 20gal. boiballs, uvlight, 6stage RO, and
50 lbs of dry rock Key Largo Dry Rock.
this rock looks so good i cant bring myself to stick it in the sand and cover it up :(
and i could order some flat rock of some sort or make my own rock,
or can i just use some
    new cinder blocks ?
+ i get some kewl caves and 2 legs if i bust them in half.

will cinder block harm my tank and will it grow bacteria and become live ?:-/

You can prop up your rock with egg crate (also called light diffuser), or PVC pipe. I wouldn't rely on cinder block, as you have no idea what they put in the mix.

Cement will raise the PH and takes a long time to cure. you also have to worry about leaching of chemicals and po4....not worth the hassel IMO.

all my rock is on glass bottom then the substrate, then the good LR... I honestly think it helps circulation although minute under the substrate and never had any issues with cyno around the base of the rock or the sand surrouding them.

lol. If it looks so good, I would want it in my tank. Should add some character to it. Just go with a shallow sand bed.
