If it is a Cirolanid isopod, then you will have to wait the three months that Ron Shimek suggested to ensure it starves itself out due to the lack of a host. This is the safest bet IMO.

If it is a micro grazer or detrivore, then no prblem.

    Good luck!

This really stinks... I was planning to go out & get my clown fish. got a qt all ready to go for a new fish. There is always something! [smiley=sick.gif]
I take it there is no trap to get them with, huh?
I wish there was a quick fix to this.
Do you think I can put siversides on a rock ( maybe with a rubber band or something...eewww...do you smell that...lol) [smiley=uneasy.gif]
and see if it will attach to the fish? the shrimp would enjoy the snack, i am sure.

Most parasites will only inhabit live hosts. If the silversides are dead then it would probably a waste of time.

"The bug cut through the flesh of her palm, dug in, and started to eat HER. Her response was rather impressive. So was the tenacity of the isopod, it was HARD to remove it. After so much hard work, by the way, I insisted we release the bug, that much initiative deserved to be rewarded."

Yeah, I'd say it's a bummer to get these in your tank. I wouldn't have let it go though?!?! Whole space stations have been obliterated because of stuff like this right? If I were you I would contact the NAVY and have them drop a depth charge in your tank, just to be on the safe side...
