Well I finally decided to upgrade from my first sw tank. I was/am using a seaclear 2 100g tank as a reef tank which was pretty difficult due to not having a sump and no where for equipment. It was good learning experience which led me to buy this: Oceanic Ultimate Reef Ready 156g which measures 60x24x24.5

And various goodies that I have been receiving throughout the week. My wife was a bit suprised as to all the things that have been being delivered, I told her I need to do it right :)

I'm still waiting on a delivery of rocks, another 100lbs, which I'll add to my already cured 125lbs, hopefully get the plumbing done this weekend, make up the water and then god willing make the transfer of my fish corals rock next weekend. I am bit leary and excited about getting everything in the new tank.

All of this will be lit by 8x80 t5, with geissman bulbs, which will be a mixture of softies/lps/a few easier sps.

Let me know what you all think, and thanks for stopping by ,the site is great and I have learned more from this site than I could ever done on my own.

Are you getting a 100lbs of LR or base rock. Just want to make sure you remember that if getting new LR it is going to cause a cycle even if you add it to the current cured LR.

    Also awesome tank...congrats

100 pounds of base rock, this was to avoid another cycle stressing the fish/inverts/corals

Very nice size tank. That was the exact one I wanted before finding my 180RR.
I didn't want to spend the $1000 on that tank though, and I do like the extra room under the stand for the sump and stuff. I'm looking foward to seeing this build progress.

Yeah I was considering going with a truvu and had just about ordered but held off. Then found this tank which has the starfire front panel and it was about 100 bucks cheaper than the acrylic truvu. I will admit that this a lot heavier than any acrylic I have picked up. Luckily my wife is strong otherwise we would not have gotten it in the house.

    Looks great so far!
The only thing I would suggest is to seriously consider upgrading the return pump situation. I would recommend going with dual external pumps. Go big, and you can drive everything off of them. Can T off of the return line and use them to drive your skimmer, reactors, everything. It will actually give you less energy consumption and less heat build up in the water. Plus with dual pumps, if one ever fails, you can at least limp the tank along until a replacement arrives. I went with dual Little Giant 4-MDQX's for mine.
